Duyun Maojian
Initially an imperial tribute tea, the downy buds and leaves in striking contrast of silver and dark green have been a rising star since Chairman Mao singled it out for increased production—and its winning qualities are immediately apparent. The dried leaves brew a sweet opalescent liquor that emanates a medley of flavors: the crisp vegetality of broccoli, thyme, and sweet green melon, as well as traces of molten butter that compliments its oily texture. Leaving a soft caress on the palate, this tea is sure to hook the drinker as it has many for centuries past.
