Vintage Tieguanyin 1997
An unusual blend of leaves from two different varietals, this mildly-roasted Tieguanyin has been aged for more than two decades. The relaxed, open leaves exude the gentle aromas of beeswax and the honey within, and steeping reveals a panoply of fruity apricot and toasted rice, balanced by mild tannins and a touch of cast iron. Warm and distinguished, it is ideal for enjoyment during summer days or in order to bring a bit of warmth to an evening.
Among our other Tieguanyin selections from the Taiwanese tea master Chen, our vintage selection represents some of his true masterpieces, and, in addition to this one from 1997, we also offer his Tieguanyin 1995 and 2000.
