Xueshan Qing Xin

This high-mountain Qing Xin Oolong comes from the southern end of the Xueshan mountain range. At 2000 meters above sea level, the tea gardens are often wrapped in mist and shaped by cool mountain air—ideal conditions for the slow growth that gives Taiwanese high-mountain teas their remarkable depth and clarity.

The producer is fully dedicated to the Qing Xin cultivar, cultivating and processing exclusively this celebrated Taiwanese variety. Such specialization is rare and reflects a profound understanding of how Qing Xin expresses altitude, terroir, oxidation and roast.

Crafted with medium oxidation and medium roasting, this tea balances structure and warmth. The oxidation brings roundness and depth, while the roast gently enhances texture without overshadowing the freshness typical of high elevations.

In the cup, it unfolds with a comforting, warming character. Its profile is elegant yet satisfying, combining a soft nuttiness with notes reminiscent of bamboo sugar and a buttery smooth body. The finish is long, clean and quietly persistent.

About the producer

Ms. Su manages tea gardens in the Xueshan mountain range, continuing her father’s legacy by cultivating high-mountain organic tea—an approach few producers are willing to pursue.

Her gardens lie in the heart of Taiwan, deep within pristine forests and surrounded by largely untouched wilderness. She follows a strict organic philosophy that respects the natural growth rhythm of tea trees and the surrounding biodiversity. No forest is cleared to expand farmland; on the contrary, she even leases nearby forest areas to preserve them in their natural state.

Combining organic cultivation with profound knowledge of traditional tea processing, Ms. Su consistently produces teas of remarkable aromatic complexity—an achievement we have encountered in only a handful of farmers during many years of sourcing tea in Taiwan.
